ABOUT US

​Salem Missionary Baptist Church, founded in 1869, traces the roots of its founders to the original Salem Baptist Church in Old Troy (on the eastern edge of now Greensboro) organized in 1818. With $2,000 from the proceeds of the sale of the original Salem Baptist Church, former slaves proceeded to acquire and build their own church on Baptist Hill, which is the present-day location of Salem Missionary Baptist Church.
